Since 1998, Mina Ebrahimi has been working hard to make people happy by using her passion for good food and love of planning memorable events as the Owner of Saint Germain Catering. We got our start by focusing on delivering fresh lunches to hungry working men and women and serving tasty food at local events, and Mina quickly found a love for it because of the room for creativity and adventure involved in planning each new event. Each event is different in its own right and limited only by one’s imagination, and Mina loves the constant change and opportunity for reinvention that comes with catering and event planning.
Mina quickly realized that the Washington, D.C. area was filled with corporate headquarters, statewide organizations, lobbying groups, and governmental offices, and that they were all in need of a full-service caterer that could offer quality food and service at a reasonable price. But Mina had a grander vision in mind, and she quickly transformed the business into a full-service catering company serving weddings, business luncheons, special events, and private parties.
Throughout the years, there were many obstacles to overcome. One by one, the obstacles were surmounted as Mina thought about opportunities, not obstacles, working hard to provide top-notch food for a rapidly growing clientele. Through Mina and her team’s hard work, sacrifice, and positive attitude, Saint Germain Catering has grown to become the leading business of its kind in the region, with an impressive roster of over 3,000 clients.
Mina’s meticulous nature, hands-on approach, and passion for her work have made Saint Germain Catering what it is today. Fifteen years after its creation, Mina continues to oversee the business’s day-to-day operations and kitchen management. In her efforts to stay sharp and on the cutting edge of catering, she also regularly attends professional seminars on cuisine, décor and design, and technique. Saint Germain’s is also particularly distinctive in its personal approach to event planning. For every occasion, Mina and her staff work one-on-one with clients to create a unique and memorable menu, plan décor, and customize staffing.
With individualized attention to detail as the company’s cornerstone, Saint Germain Catering has won a reputation for hosting successful events that are fun and have flair. In 2010, Mina was named one of the Washington Business Journal’s “40 under 40” and was also the recipient of SmartCEO’s 2010 Brava Award.
The fruit of Mina’s labors-of-love is a catering company that stands apart from others. Saint Germain Catering is socially conscious, donating over $100,000 annually in food and services to shelters, non-profits, and fundraisers, purchasing locally grown meat and produce, offering compostable cups and utensils, always giving back to the local community. Mina also helps advance veterinary science after experiencing the illness of her beloved dog, Jack. Mina established Interventional Paws, a non-profit organization that connects pet owners with the vital medical help they need, and is also a major contributor to the University of Pennsylvania’s Veterinary Medicine Program. Her generous donations support the Jack Miller-Ebrahimi Program for Interventional Endoscopic and Radiologic Diagnostics and Therapeutics at the veterinary medicine program. Mina’s goal for her clients is that they and their guests to be wowed by flavor and presentation, and that her and her team always present an upbeat, friendly attitude as they work their culinary and event-planning magic.
